Types and uses of dental grinding heads:
1. Diamond grinding head
•Use: Used for cutting hard tissues such as enamel and dentin of teeth. Suitable for fine cutting and shaping,
including pulp opening, tooth shape modification, crown space preparation, etc.
2. Silicon carbide grinding head (emery grinding head)
•Use: Suitable for removing old fillings or decay. Because of its fast grinding speed, it is especially suitable for
processing soft materials such as amalgam.
3. Ceramic grinding head
•Purpose: Provides delicate cutting effect, reduces thermal damage and vibration to healthy tissue, suitable for
precision tooth preparation.
4. Polishing head
•Purpose: The material is soft and used for final polishing of teeth and restorations to improve surface smoothness
and aesthetics and reduce plaque accumulation.
5. Arc-shaped grinding head
•Purpose: Suitable for specific contour and curved surface processing, such as tooth neck trimming and root canal
opening, protecting surrounding soft tissue.
6. Ball drill
•Purpose: Basic cutting tool, used for pith opening or rapid removal of large pieces of decay, with spherical tip for
non-directional cutting.
